The Midlands Local League runs on a slightly different format to the rest of SEMLA, which is detailed below.

Basic Principles
- To work together to provide a structure for increased participation and quality of Men’s lacrosse in the Midlands region.
- To continue to create a fun, competitive, safe and inclusive environment for players and officials to enjoy and thrive within.
- Excellent communication between teams prior to the Gameday makes for a better event and gives us the possibility of problem solving to ensure we all play.
Gameday Plan
- Gamedays involve 3 teams competing at one venue.
- Gamedays will take place on a Sunday, see fixtures.
- Each team plays the other teams in a 10-a-side league game - 2 x 20 min halves with 2 time-outs per team per game.
- The order of the 3 league fixtures on a gameday will be arranged by the captains of the teams involved.
- On gamedays the non-playing team will provide 2 referees and a bench official for the game they are not involved with. This is essential, 1 referee officiating alone is unacceptable.
- Pitches must be marked (this can include a temporary crease) and have cones marking the sections of the pitch and the bench area.
Clubs with multiple teams
- This season we are proud to have Leicester and Stoke each entering a second team into our league for the first time. They will join Nuneaton as clubs with 2 teams. The anomaly in our league is that we have one division so the teams are all in the same league.
- In our pre-season meeting the clubs agreed that players can move freely between teams from their club, however, the leaders from each club MUST ensure that players are selected based on merit with the 1st team always being the stronger of the 2 teams fielded.
- We rely that our clubs will adhere to the principles of our league. If any club feels there is a need for appeal because a 2nd team has been unfairly selected, we will request the support of SEMLA and colleagues from other Midlands clubs to review the situation.
Midlands Final Four Championship
The top 4 placed teams in the league at the end of the sequence of Gameday fixtures will qualify of the Midlands Final Four Championship.
Players must have competed in two of the Gameday events (for the specific club) during the season to be eligible for the Midlands Final Four Championship (Semi-Finals and Final). In special circumstances dispensation can be sought prior to the event beginning.
